Lawn Treatment
Tru-Green will be coming to complete spring weed control and fertilization to keep our common areas looking great. They will be on site on April 8th and 9th, with inclement weather dates of April 15th and 16th. As a precaution, we will close the playground areas for those days only. Please watch for the Tru-Green warning flags, which will notify you to stay off the grass. All chemicals are EPA approved. MSDS information sheets will be available at the Hethwood Foundation for your reference.
 
2010 Day of Remembrance
In memory of the 32 Hokies that were lost on April 16, 2007, Virginia Tech will not hold classes on Friday, April 16, 2010. There will be events taking place throughout the day.
  • Midnight - Ceremonial candle will be lit at the April 16 Memorial and will remain lit throughout the day.
  • 8am - 3.2 mile Run for Remembrance will begin at Alumni Mall
  • 11am-1pm - Community Picnic on the Drillfield
  • 11am-5pm - Expressions of Remembrance: Events include Memorial Exhibit and Slide Show at Holtzman Alumni Center, April 16 Textiles at Squires Perspective Gallery, Healing Through the Arts in Squires Old Dominion Ballroom, Connections: A Community Art Project in the GLC Multipurpose Room, and more
  • 12:30-8pm - Music and Reflection at War Memorial Chapel
  • 4pm - A Story of Community Resilience: A Panel Discussion at The Lyric
  • Sunset - University Commemoration and Candlelight Vigil on the Drillfield

2010 Census
 The U.S. Census Bureau is currently conducting the 2010 Census. This form, which you may have already received in the mail, provides basic information about all people living in your apartment home.
 
The census acts as a snapshot of the country at a given moment in time. The statistical information obtained in the census determines the number of representatives each state has in the U.S. Congress, how much government money each neighborhood receives to provide services for children and the elderly, roads, and other local needs.
 
All information provided in the Census is kept confidential by federal law. After 72 years, information will be made public for use in researching family history and other forms of historical research.
 
Even if your apartment is not your permanent residence, you are required to complete the form. The Census counts everyone who is residing in the United States, regardless of immigration or citizenship status. Students cannot be counted on the Census for their permanent addresses, and must complete the Census form delivered to their local addresses.
 
Census Day is April 1, 2010, so your responses should reflect your household composition as of that date. Any residence that does not submit a questionnaire will receive a visit from a Census Bureau Representative. For more information, please visit www.2010.census.gov.
 
Cooling Down
 Please do not leave the windows open while the heating/cooling unit is in operation. Leaving the windows open will cause extra wear and tear on the equipment. Foxridge and Hethwood Communities reserves the right to bill residents for improper and excessive use of the equipment. If you are found to be operating the heating/cooling unit and leaving your windows and/or doors open, you will be fined $50 for the first offense and continued violations could lead to fines up to $100. To avoid fines and damages costs, windows and doors should not be left open when using the heating/cooling unit.
 
No Soliciting Allowed
As a reminder, no soliciting or handbill distribution is permitted in the community. "No Soliciting" signs have been posted and will be strictly enforced. We want to protect your right to privacy. Please contact the Welcome Center if you encounter this problem. If you believe that you have been approached for a scam or other questionable activity, please contact Blacksburg Police Department at (540)961-1150.
 
Goodwill Donations Pick Up Site
 Do you have items you no longer want that are in good condition? Are you moving and just don’t want to move that couch or desk? Goodwill Industries of the Valley will be at the Foxridge and Hethwood Community on various weekends throughout the next few months to accept donations of clothing, house wares, furniture, etc. Representatives from Goodwill will be located throughout the community accepting your donations. Flyers will be posted at your buildings in the coming weeks with more specific information including times, locations and contact numbers to schedule large item pick ups. On-site pick-ups will take place from May through August. Exact dates will be announced within the coming weeks. Please contact the Welcome Center for more information.
 
Clubhouse Rentals
The Briarwood Clubhouse is currently closed for remodeling, but will be available for rental starting in April. The clubhouses are available for residents of Foxridge and Hethwood to reserve for social gatherings. Consider one of our Clubhouses for your special event. Contact the Welcome Center for information and availability.

Want a Sweet Summer Job?
We plan to hold a lifeguarding class in April (3rd & 4th week most likely) for anyone interested in becoming an American Red Cross Certified Lifeguard. You must be at least 15 years old. Cost will be $175 for Hethwood residents and $200 for others. Please call 552-5252 to let us know early if you are interested as indoor pool time must be arranged.

  • Friday, March 26 - Sunday, March 28 - Fever to Sing Festival; multiple venues in Downtown Blacksburg and local area: Fever to Sing Arts Collective is a student-run organization that celebrates the diversity of arts that the student community and the Blacksburg-area community has to offer. Come out to experience over 50 bands, see the work of local artists, film screenings and fun workshops. Please Note: These are very broad genres and bands within genres have very unique styles and sounds. Maintenance Services
 We will deliver touch-up paint to your apartment at a cost of $10. Replacement of incandescent light bulbs will be available at a cost of $5/bulb. Fluorescent lights will still be replaced free of charge.
 
Maintenance Reminders
 Foxridge and Hethwood Communities offers 24-hour emergency maintenance for our residents. If you have an emergency to report, call (540) 951-1223. Please give complete telephone number, address and description of the problem. The following are considered emergencies: gas leak, no heat or air cnditioning (in summer months), no hot water, water leaks, inoperable stove or refrigerator, inoperable door lock, overflowing toilet, inoperable smoke or carbon monoxide detector, sprinkler alarm system, or any situation that may cause injury or damage. Please contact emergency maintenance if you notice any community lighting (such as street lamps, pole lamps, landing or laundry room lights) is flickering or out. When calling in a heat or A/C issue, our maintenance staff must have access to the closet containing the heating and A/C unit. Also, please make sure you are turning the unit completely off, as this will allow maintenance to better determine the problem upon arrival.
 
Nightly Suite Rentals
 Friends or family coming to visit? Why stay at a hotel when they could stay right here in Foxridge? Contact the Welcome Center for information on our two and three-bedroom Nightly Suites. Available for nightly, weekly, or weekend stays, our Nightly Suites are equipped with all the comforts of home. Special event weekends are in high demand, so call early for availability.

The Resident Portal allows you to make payments and submit maintenance requests 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! Parking Policies
Parking at Foxridge and Hethwood Apartment Homes is on a first-come, first-served basis, and is not individually assigned. Please see the Notices page for detailed parking policy information.
 
Pet Waste Removal
Please "walk" pets away from the buildings. Pet owners are responsible for clean up of all pet wastes; failure to do so will necessitate a charge. The fine will be deducted from the pet deposit and the pet owner will have twenty-one (21) days to replenish the deposit or remove the pet from the premises. Any damage to the shrubbery or landscape areas will be the sole responsibility of the pet owner. Dogs must be leashed or carried at all times when they are outdoors.
*This is in accordance with the Blacksburg Town Code, Section 4-32, Ordinance No. 805, §1,4-26-88.
 
Pet Policy Information
 All pets must be registered with the Welcome Center before bringing the pet into the apartment. This includes a pet that may or may not require a deposit. Any pet brought into the apartment, including visiting pets, will be subject to our current pet policies regardless of the lease start date. The pet fine for illegal pets is $200.00 and does not apply to pet deposits or pet fees. Foxridge and Hethwood's restricted breeds are as follows: Rottweilers, Chows, German Shepherds, Pit bulls and Dobermans*
*This includes mixes of these breeds*

Preventive Extermination
 Extermination chemicals are non-toxic and should not harm your pets or fish. During the month of October, we will be performing extermination inside each individual apartment home. We offer flea exterminations every Tuesday and Wednesday in conjunction with routine exterminations at 9am and 11am. Please indicate which time you would prefer when scheduling your apartment for extermination. Remember if you request flea exterminations you are required to vacate your apartment for up to four hours. There will be a minimum charge of $15 for flea exterminations. Please call the Welcome Center at 951-1221if you have any questions.
