Community Events

  • Cinco de Mayo Thursday, May 5th starting at 11 am at the Briarwood Clubhouse. Take a break from studying and pick up lunch from Wicked Taco, while supplies last!
  • Exam Study Break Thursday, May 5th 8 – 9 pm at the Briarwood Clubhouse. Take a well deserved break from your studies and join us for some yummy pizza, snacks and sodas. Congratulations to our graduating seniors!
  • Hethwood Yard SaleSaturday, May 7th 7 am – Noon. Come on out and sell items you don’t need anymore and maybe you will find deal on something you do need! This yard sale will be held on the lawn area in front of the Hethwood Square Shopping Center - Close to the entrance off Hethwood Blvd. We will advertise in the Roanoke Times. Please call and register with the Hethwood Foundation at 552-5252 by the 5th. As always, we appreciate Lester Development for allowing us to use the lawn area. We are always careful to follow their policy of “no cars on the grass.” Rain cancels.
  • Senior LuncheonThursday, May 19th from Noon – 1 pm at the Briarwood Clubhouse. Join the Hethwood Foundation team for a tasty fried chicken lunch and dessert! Please register by May 16th with the Hethwood Foundation (540) 552-5252.
  • Kids Movie NightFriday, May 20th starting at 7 pm - ???? at the Briarwood Clubhouse. Movie: The Peanuts Movie. Rated: PG. We’ll enjoy Kool Aid and popcorn while supplies last! Parents/Guardians please accompany children.
  • Evening Swim & End of School Party Monday May 30th 6 – 8 pm at the Huntsman Pool. Come relax by the pool as the sun sets or enjoy a fun evening swim. Snack on pizza and sodas while supplies last!
  • Hatha Yoga Class Every Monday & Wednesday from 7 – 8 pm; every 2nd & 4th Tuesday come to the Huntsman Clubhouse and enjoy a relaxing Hatha Yoga class from 6 – 7 pm w/instructor Kacy McAllister. This class is appropriate for a variety of ages and levels. Kindly show your driver’s license with your Hethwood or Foxridge address and you will get the special class rate of $5. Please remember to bring your own mat and feel free to email organizer and instructor Nicole Paglialonga if you are new or have questions at The_Violinist29@hotmail.com or call the Hethwood Foundation at 552-5252.
  • Hethwood Market Nights Every Tuesday come out to the Briarwood Clubhouse from 5 – 7 pm, and enjoy a Pulled Pork or Beef BBQ sandwich, chips, and a cookie for $5! Accepting cash and credit cards! *Other sandwiches may be offered* No Hethwood Market Nights on May 17.
  • Get Pizza for $5 from Dominos Every Wednesday come out to the Briarwood Clubhouse from 4:30 – 7:30 pm, and enjoy fresh, hot pizza from Dominos! No Dominos Nights on May 18.
  • Health & Wellness Talks A series of Health & Wellness talks by certified Holistic Wellness instructor Erin Doty Senger. Held in the Huntsman Clubhouse on Thursdays the 12th & 26th from 6:30 – 7:30 pm. FREE to all Hethwood & Foxridge residents, $10 per class for non-residents! Preregistration is requested call the Hethwood Foundation at (540) 552-5252 sign up early space is limited. Sorry no refunds except in the event of cancellation.

Goodwill Donations

If you’re moving out of your apartment home, please consider donating any lightly used items. We have several EDGAR boxes set-up throughout the community that allow donation access 24/7. Help people in your community get back to work!

To enter into the drawing for the monthly community winners please stop by the Welcome Center and submit an entry form. Drawings take place on the 15th of each month. You must be a current resident to win.

Pool Information

Pool Pin Registration:

Wednesday and Thursday, May 18th & 19th from 5:45 - 7:45 pm at the Huntsman Clubhouse.

  1. Persons 16 years or younger that do not have a picture ID or Drivers License. One adult per household should come by, fill out registration forms and pick up the children’s pool pins. Initial pins are free; however, replacement for lost pool pins will cost $2.00, which is nonrefundable. Children will be required to wear pins at all times while using our aquatic facilities.
  2. Adults that do not have a picture ID. Please note that a picture ID may be obtained from the VA DMV. A list of residents will be kept at the pool gate. Adults over 16 years are required to show ID to enter the pool.
  3. Residents may also obtain a pool pin at both pools during normal hours if they are not able to attend the pool pin registration night.

Pool Hours (Starting 5/28):

Huntsman Pool: 11 am – 6 pm Daily

Briarwood Pool: Noon – 8 pm Daily (w/lap swim M - F 11 am – Noon & 6 – 7 pm)

Pre Season Hours:

Depending on lifeguard availability and weather permitting, we anticipate opening the Briarwood pool on the weekend of May 21st & 22nd as well as 28th & 29th.

*Please remember that the above listed dates are subject to change depending on lifeguard availability and the weather.*
*Please note: As we start the swimming season, we may be working on an abbreviated schedule (during the weekdays) until all of our lifeguards are out of college and high school. Rest assured we will open the pool as much as possible. Please feel free to call the Hethwood office if you have questions @ 552-5252. Thanks!*

Weed Control & Fertilization

Tru-Green will be coming to complete spring weed control & fertilization of the common areas. Please watch for the Tru-Green warning flags to stay off the grass. All chemicals used are EPA approved and, as always, SDS information sheets will be available in the Hethwood Foundation office.

  • Senior Discount Mondays – Head to downtown Blacksburg and to enjoy the 10 am matinee at the Lyric Theatre with FREE popcorn, then grab some lunch or do a little shopping to enjoy wonderful discounts in more than 40 downtown businesses. Every Monday!
  • Hethwood Market –  Come out to the Hethwood Market on Monday nights for BBQ, Tuesdays and Wednesdays for a take out dinner, and Thursdays for pork ribs. Check out the Hethwood Market calendar on their Facebook Page for menus, live local artists, and their planned wine/beer tastings from local vineyards and breweries.
  • United Way Drive - Thru Breakfast - May 20th – Drive, walk, or bike your way through United Way of Montgomery, Radford and Floyd's Second Annual Drive-Thru Breakfast on Friday, May 20th from 6:00 - 9:00 am. The Drive-thru will be held at Hampton Inn on Arbor Drive in Christiansburg. For a $10 donation, you can pick up a full, delicious breakfast bag stuffed with a hot breakfast biscuit/burrito, local made pastry, fruit, a fresh Starbucks brewed coffee and a copy of The News Messenger. 100% of each gift will go to United Way and stay in the New River Valley to provide for critical human and health needs. Community Construction

The gas utility company, Atmos, is working throughout our Foxridge & Hethwood Community on a necessary upgrade to the gas lines. Thank you for your patience and pardon the mess while they complete their work.

Dog Reminder

As the weather gets warmer, we encourage residents to take advantage of the nature trails. For the safety and well-being of all residents, and in accordance with the Pet Policy and Blacksburg Town Ordinance, please remember that all dogs must be kept on a leash at all times. Please also remember to pick up after your pet so we can keep our community clean and enjoyable for everyone.

The Blacksburg Transit has launched their BT Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/RideBT and Twitter account @Ride_BT. Be sure to “like” and “follow” them on social media for the most up to date information!

Hethwood Hurricanes Swim Team

The Hethwood Hurricanes Swim Team is returning for the 2016 summer season!!! If you or a family member are interested in being a part of this wonderful community program we will be accepting registration forms at pool pin registration nights, May 18th & 19th, in the Huntsman Clubhouse from 5:45 - 7:45 pm. We will also be available at the Huntsman Pool May 21st & 22nd during the preseason pool hours. Registration fee is $100. Registration forms can be found on the Hethwood Foundation website under the forms and links tab. Practices are tentatively scheduled for Monday, Wednesday and Fridays from 10 – 11 am at the Briarwood Pool during the competitive swim season. Any questions can be answered at either registration night or during the preseason pool hours where representatives will be available. As the Hurricanes are a volunteer ran and organized group, we encourage parents and family member of our swimmers to please consider volunteering during our swim meets this summer. Habitat for Humanity ReStore to be at Briarwood for Donations

Representatives from Habitat for Humanity ReStore will be on site with their truck and tent to receive used furniture in good condition (please no rips or tears) small working kitchen appliances, and sellable household items (no clothing or fabrics). They will be here this summer on the following Saturday’s: May 14th & 21st, June 4th, July 30th & August 6th from 11 am to 4 pm in the Briarwood clubhouse parking lot (back).

If you need help getting furniture to them, you can speak with them at the Habitat truck and they may be able to help pick up items to be donated. Tax receipts are also available. The Habitat for Humanity ReStore is the largest fundraiser for our local Habitat for Humanity.
